Two killed, two critical and two seriously injured in a head-on collision

Two killed, two critical and two seriously injured in a head-on collision near Westonaria.

Two people believed to be in their late 30s have lost their lives in a head-on collision between a bakkie and a light motor vehicle on the mine roads between the R28 and the R559, north-east of Westonaria yesterday afternoon. One child and one adult suffered critical injuries and two further adults are in a serious condition following the incident.
GPG were already in attendance when ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 14:06. The bakkie was apparently carrying white paint as it was all over the scene. An adult female from the light motor vehicle and an adult male from the bakkie had suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival. The child and adult who were found in a critical condition, as well as a fourth seriously injured adult, were also being treated by the GPG’s ALS paramedic by this time.
The fifth adult patient, a 33-year-old male, who had been entrapped in one of the vehicles, was also found to have suffered serious injuries and required Advanced Life Support interventions before being transported to hospital by ER24 for further care.
The Fire and Traffic Departments as well as the South African Police Services were all on the scene.
