Young star does it again

A young dancer from Greenspark is not letting the lockdown stop her from reaching her dreams.

Zeldine Voss, a 17-year old Gr11 learner of Hoërskool Fochville, recently walked off as winner of an international dancing competition organised in Poland.
According to Zeldine, who has been dancing since she was in Gr 4, the competition was very different from previous events due to the Covid-19 lockdown
“We took part in auditions in Pretoria on 10 April, and the winners were supposed to go to Poland at the end of May,” she says.
Zeldine took part in the freestyle category.
Ït’s a combination of funk with some rhythm, and you also improvise a bit and just go with the flow,” she says.
Zeldine says that she was feeling ill on the day of the auditions and was not sure whether she would be able to do well.
Her second-best was, however, still better that what any of the other dancers could come up with and she managed to win and qualify for the international final.
As a result of the Covid-19 restrictions the live finals in Poland were cancelled and she and other contestants, who are from various countries, were judged on the videos they sent in. Here Zeldine triumphed again and walked off as the international winner of her category.
It was the first time that she had competed in an online dancing competition.
Another learner of Hoërskool Fochville, Danielle Kieser, was the runner-up in the singing category of the same competition.
Zeldine is meanwhile waiting for the results her auditions for the national dancing championships.
She is a pupil of the Annemarie Dansskool in Potchefstroom.
Her coach, Annemarie Swanepoel, unfortunately passed away recently. Zeldine is now being taught by her late coach’s daughter, Shani van Heerden.
The past competition was also the first that Zeldine competed in since the passing away of her coach.
She also excelled at various big modelling competitions recently.
