Basothos rob man near No 8 Shaft

A group of Basothos violently assaulted a man at Sibanye-Stillwater’s No 8 Shaft in the past week.

According to the Carletonville police, the incident took place at about 17:30 on 28 May.
The resident of the area was walking when a group of Basotho men in their customary blankets approached him. “Do you have money for us to buys dagga?” one of them asked.
When the man said he did not, the group assaulted him. During the altercation, one of his assailants pulled his blanket aside to show the victim his firearm. Another hit the victim over the head with a firearm.
The police have opened a case of armed robbery following the incident.
