Man shoots alleged burglar

The Carletonville police are investigating two criminal cases after a resident in the area shot an alleged burglar this week.

The Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, says Sibanye- Stillwater’s security personnel received a call about shots being fired in East Park Crescent at about 02:40 on 5 May.
When they arrived at the scene, the security personnel found a man lying between two houses in Egrit Street. Another man, who resides in East Park Crescent, came to them and explained that he had been awoken by a noise in his house earlier. When he went to see what was going on, he found the now victim and other suspects in his house.

When the burglars saw him, they fired several shots. The resident shot back and the men ran away.
The police are investigating attempted murder and attempted housebreaking cases following the incident.
