According to Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, one such incident occurred in Gatsrand Street, Carletonville Extension 16 on Monday, 3 May.
The owner of the house went to bed at about 23:45 after making sure all the doors and windows were secured. He also activated his security alarm. He woke up to the sound of the alarm going off at around 02:15 the next morning, however.
He got up and went to check what was going on.
As the owner walked into the dining room, he saw the door slightly ajar. The thieves had also forced his garage door open.
Luckily, the burglars were only able to grab a gold-coloured vase and remote control before they had to flee from the scene.
