According to statistics released the Gauteng Department of Health the number of residents of the Merafong City Local Municipality infected with the coronavirus continues to grow.
By today, Monday 5 April, there were 4 967 residents of our area who have tested positive for the virus.
This is an increase of 43 cases since Thursday, 1 April.
Of them 4 684 have recovered while 193 have died.
There were 38 recoveries and three deaths from Covid-19 in our area during the course of the past weekend.
Elsewhere in the West Rand there are now 12 473 residents of Mogale City (the Krugersdorp area ) who have tested positive. Of them 12 044 have recovered while 378 have died.
There are also 6 910 people who have tested positive in Rand West City (the Randfontein and Westonaria area). Of 6 652 have recovered while 225 have died.
