According to statistics released by the Gauteng Department of Health earlier today, there are 4 825 people who have been infected with Covid-19 in the Merafong City Local Municipality area.
Of these patients 4 554 have recovered while 180 have died. Merafong’s cases have increased with 16 from yesterday. This is the highest increase in the West Rand as there were only three new cases in Mogale City (the Krugersdorp area) and five new cases in Rand West City (the Randfontein and Westonaria area) since yesterday.
So far 12 396 people in Mogale City have been infected with the disease. Of them 11 961 have recovered while 371 have died. There are 6 860 cases in Rand West City (of which 6 579 have recovered while 223 have died.
