According to statistics released by the Gauteng Department of Health earlier today, there are now 4 511 residents of the Merafong City Local Municipal Area who have been infected with the coronavirus. Of them 4 290 have recovered from the disease. There are now 122 residents from our area who have died from Covid-19. Elsewhere in the West Rand cases are also still increasing. There are 12 041 cases in Mogale City (the Krugersdorp area), of which 11 521 have recovered and 343 have died, while there are 6 641 cases in Rand West City (the Randfontein and Westonaria area), of which 6 320 have recovered and 200 have died.
