Pick n Pay in Carletonville closed after burglary

Many shoppers had to turn back from Carletonville Pick n Pay in Ada Street today after the shopping centre and supermarket were closed due to a burglary.

According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, police were called to the scene of the crime this morning at 06:50.

When the manager locked the supermarket yesterday evening eat 21:20 everything was still in order.

When he opened the shop this morning he however immediately smelled something burning. He looked around and noticed that the ceiling was damaged as someone had climbed through it.

The safe containing cash was damaged and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.

The suspects are unknown at this stage and police are following all leads to arrest the perpetrators. The police urge the community to help with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects by contacting the investigating officer Const Malesela Kekana at 018 787  9317 or 076 137 7387.
