Police foil planned robbery in Vereeniging

A 9mm pistol with a police badge and a filed off serial number was found in the car.

Police were able to foil a planned business robbery recently after following up on intelligence received. Police Spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda said that while patrolling, police stopped a car that fits a description received earlier.
“After getting permission from the suspects to search the car, a 9mm pistol with a police badge and a filed-off serial number was found in the car.
“The suspects could not account for it. All three suspects were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The suspects will appear in court soon.”
Funda also reported on a series of house robberies in Risiville area, urging members of the community to tighten their security.
“The theft of motor vehicles is still rife in Three Rivers, with the targeted makes being VW Polo, NP2OO and 4X4 of any make.
“We would like to urge the community to report all criminal activities that they might be aware of anonymously to Crime Stop on 0861 10111 or report using the MYSAPS App.
“Information will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
