Men hijacked on Monkey Mountain

A group of men from Carletonville were traumatised when they were hijacked on their way to Fochville last week.

According to the police, the men hired a vehicle to drive them from Carletonville to Kokosi last Monday evening. They set off, with the car’s driver behind the steering wheel, just before 19:00.
The men were just out of town when they realised the lights of the Toyota Corolla, were not working, however. As it was particularly dark, they decided to stop and see whether they could fix them. They had just stopped on the hill past Fountain Private Hospital when three unknown Sotho-speaking men came up to them.

The men were all armed and one fired a shot. These thugs demanded that the victims hand over their valuables to them. While they were harassing the driver, the two other men ran away. They ran to the hospital, where they managed to contact the police. Luckily for the driver, he also managed to escape unharmed. Although the attackers fled with the Corolla, they abandoned the car nearby. It is suspected that they were also unable to get the lights to work.
