Man murdered in Impala Drive

At the time of the newspaper going to print, the police were still investigating the circumstances around the murder of a man during an alleged house robbery in Carletonville this week.

According to the police in Carletonville, the incident took place at 14:45 on Tuesday. A 31-year-old woman who lived in the house told police that three men had arrived in a Volkswagen Polo Vivo. The masked intruders overpowered her and tied her up. She managed to get loose after they had fled the scene but dis- covered the body of her uncle, Mr Ernest Zeelie (60) in the bath when she went to the bathroom. He had been drowned, allegedly by the robbers. The house was ransacked and a variety of electrical equipment stolen.
