A man ended up on the wrong side of the law after deciding to mess around with a petrol attendant in Carletonville recently. According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, an unknown man stopped at the Caltex filling station in Annan Road at around 23:18 on Saturday, 14 August. The motorist, driving a grey Volkswagen Polo, had a passenger with him. As they pulled up next to the petrol pump, the passenger asked the attendant to fill up with R80’s worth of fuel. The driver told him he needed R200’s worth, however. After the attendant asked the driver several times whether he was sure that he wanted that amount of fuel, the driver insisted that that was exactly what he wanted. When the pump attendant did as he was requested, however, the driver suddenly changed his story and said he had only asked for R100. A case of theft was opened after he refused to pay the outstanding amount.
