When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 04H30, they found two vehicles that seemed to have collided head-on. Upon further assessment, they found two patients in the one vehicle who had sustained fatal injuries. One of them was an 8-month-old baby. Paramedics declared both of them dead at the scene.
Two others were found outside of the vehicle and both had sustained moderate injuries. In the second vehicle, a man was found entrapped. Fochville and Potchefstroom Fire Dept had to extricate the man using the jaws of life. The man was found to have sustained serious injuries.
ER24, as well as another medical service at the scene, transported the patients to hospital for further medical care.
