A 90-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was attacked by a pit bull terrier in Watersedge on 21 January. The incident took place near a garage on the road to Khutsong on Thursday afternoon, when the old man was walking in the street. He did not see that the dog had managed to get out of a nearby yard until the attack. As he fell to the ground, the dog continued to maul the victim. An unknown man took out a gun and shot the dog, which apparently died on the scene. The pensioner, who was critically injured, was airlifted to Milpark Hospital and is still in the intensive care unit. The owners of the dog could be facing charges of culpable homicide if the pensioner loses his life as a result of negligence.
