Super woman cyclists help school

Women should be able to cycle without fear.

A group of female cyclists tackled a 70km ride to raise money for a school from Khutsong last weekend.

More than 100 cyclists who are part of the cycling advocacy programme, Matsimela Ladies Clinics (MLC), took off from Key West Mall in Krugersdorp on July 20 at about 06:30.

According to one of the their members, Kedibone Maselwane, MLC is a registered non-profit organisation with the vision to make sure that roads are safe for African women to cycle without fear, no matter what their background, age, shape or location.

The organisation also teaches African women to cycle, as this promotes good physical and mental health.

When she is not cycling, Maselwane is a well-known dentist in Carletonville.

Although the group aimed to raise R70 000, they ended up doubling this goal and handed over a cheque of R151 760 to the school.

The group got positive attention when they cycled into Khutsong with their striking yellow and black outfits around midday.
