Local soccer players invited for provincial open trials

The trials will be held in Carletonville.

Soccer players in Merafong are invited to trials that will be taking place on August 3 at Carleton Jones High School.

During the trials the local players will stand a chance to be selected on a provincial level and those who qualify will participate in the Gauteng Development League where they will be competing with national soccer academies.

Young Lions Sports Academy based in Carletonville is the only local Merafong team that will be showcasing their players. According to the coach the team has been competing in the local football league and have been performing very well; the U15 team finished at number one after the recent season, the U17 team at number three and the U13 team ranked sixth.

“We are currently looking for players between the ages of 12 and 17 from the Merafong area and there’s no particular criteria,” expressed the coach.

The trials are open for all players who will register prior to the day and they should bring copies of their identity documents. The games will be taking place from 09:00 to 15:00. For more information contact 065 982 5943/Facebook: Young Lions.
