28-year-old Teddy Moloto is working as a lifeguard at Carletonville swimming pool. He began his career at Mohlakeng Township in Randfontein in 2013, offering swimming lessons to Tswelelo and Bulelani Primary School learners at this swimming pool. He then moved on to become a swimming coach at Virgin Active in Pretoria in 2014. When he moved to Carletonville in 2015, he realised the need to contribute to the community with his
swimming skills. Teddy noticed that the children who came to swim at the pool had no water safety skills and he wanted to impart his knowledge and experience. He is currently employed by the Merafong Municipality and is, therefore, interested in offering free swimming lessons to children from the
Merafong community. The lessons include water safety, all swimming strokes such as freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. He also aims to select trainees to form a Carletonville swimming team to compete in regional, provincial and national competitions. The only fees involved will be the
entrance fee at the gate and children from anywhere in Merafong are welcome to take advantage of his generous offer. He also plans to have his own swimming club in the near future. For enquiries, parents can pop in at the lapa of the Carletonville swimming pool or call 062 842 4463.
