Man arrested for fatal shooting in Mpathla Village near Fochville

The community attempted to conceal the crime before the police arrived.

The police in Fochville arrested a man for the murder of a resident of the area over the weekend.

As far as could be determined, the police were contacted about a shooting in Mpathla Village near East Driefontein at 15:28 on September 29.

Although police rushed to the scene, community members already threw soil over the blood in the road where the shooting occurred to try to hide it. No-one wanted to speak to the police either.

Shortly after this, Carletonville Hospital, however, notified the police that a man from the same area arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The 40-year-old resident unfortunately died soon after his arrival.

Detectives arrested a suspect, who is also in his 40s, in connection with the crime.
