Motorist hijacked and kidnapped near Carletonville

They dropped him on the side of the road near Soweto.

A motorist was hijacked and kidnapped while driving past Carletonville this week.

The motorist (43) was driving his brown Toyota Quest on the R501 near the four-way crossing next to the 007 shopping centre at about 17:00 on September 10.

Suddenly, a white Toyota Quantum minibus stopped in front of him. Suddenly three men jumped from the taxi. All three pulled out firearms and grabbed the driver. They forced him to drive toward the N12 but stopped on the way there.

The hijackers blindfolded the driver, tied his hands and feet and forced him onto the back seat of his own car.

They then drove off with him and later dropped him off in the veld on the side of the road. The victim managed to get help and went to the nearest police station, which was at Protea Glen in Soweto.
