Glamorous semi-finalist changes young lives

The school is in one of the poorest parts of Khutsong.

A young woman who is a semi-finalist in a pageant recently used her connections to make local learners look cool.

Unathi Pebe, a semi-finalist in the Miss Teen Glam Gauteng pageant, did voluntary work at the Hlanganani Primary School in Khutsong Extension 3.

On August 15 and 16 Pebe and a team of supporters, which included several hairdressers, visited the school to give some of the boys cool new haircuts.

“We gave the boys a chance to look dapper. This did not only make the little ones happy but also gave them confidence,” says Pebe.

The work was done with the help of Moduone Community Development Centre. According to Pebe, she plans to do more community work at the school and hopes to make a difference.
