A young woman was raped by a man allegedly known to her at the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex over the weekend.
The incident happened in the early morning hours of August 25.
The victim and her friends were at a pub and, at one stage, decided to go to the bathroom.
While on their way there a man who the victim apparently knew stopped her.
Her friends continued while she spoke with the man. An argument ensued and the man dragged her to a nearby washing line.
The man started to beat the young victim and told her to undress. She complied, as she was afraid of him. He then raped her.
When he wanted to do it again, the woman persuaded him that they must rather go to her house, as she knew that her parents were there and would be able to help her.
Upon arrival at her house, the young woman immediately went to wake up her parents and told them what was going on. Her father started to fight with the perpetrator.
The suspect fled the scene and the woman went to open a case with the police.
