Carletonville’s biggest potholes in front of municipal buildings

Potholes are a huge problem in some parts of Carletonville.

Residents of Carletonville complain that the biggest potholes in town are in front of buildings belonging to the Merafong City Local Municipality.

“They have to be the biggest potholes in the town, and they are in the same street as the municipality’s roads department,” a resident of the town complained this week.

He was referring to several potholes in Canal Street in Oberholzer.

One of these potholes, situated right in front of the depot where municipal vehicles are parked, is approximately three metres wide and takes up half the road surface. Despite the fact that it was not raining recently, this huge pothole is full of water, as are some of the other potholes in the street.

There are also several other large potholes around the corner in Lang Street.

Motorists who strike any of these potholes at more than a snail’s pace will easily damage their vehicles.

Although the Herald took the issues to the municipality on Monday, no feedback was received.
