Criminal case opened after accident in Carletonville

The police in Carletonville are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving following an accident in Annan Road this week.

Several school children were injured in the accident at approximately 06:30 on August 2.

As far as could be determined, a scholar transport minibus transporting the learners to Laerskool Danie Theron was driving in Kaolin Street over the green traffic light at the corner of Annan Road when it was hit by a silver Toyota Corolla.

The Corolla’s driver allegedly skipped the red light.

The minibus transporting the children smashed into a tree.

To make matters worse, the Corolla’s driver allegedly ran from the scene after the accident.

The injured children were taken to hospital by ER24.
