Special Mandela Day for granny

The community of Wedela is standing together.

A grandmother from Wedela was visited by a group of very special helpers on Mandela Day.

According to Wedela police social crime prevention officer, Sergeant Zikhona Sifuba one of this town’s grannies, Masamoele Tshoenyane had a wonderful surprise on Thursday, July 18.

A group of youngsters from the Mummy’s Legendary Daycare Orphan and Aftercare Centre dropped by to make her Mandela Day special.

“The learners cleaned her yard and watered her plants, after they sang and danced for her. They also recited a few poems,” explained Sifuba.

A total of 70 learners had a fabulous time with the senior citizen, while Tshoenyane was also very happy that she had an opportunity to dance with the little ones.

“My 67 minutes was well spent and indeed it was a true Mandela day,” said Tshoenyane.
