Wedela police reach out
There are many families struggling in the current winter cold.
Members of the police in Wedela reached out to children in the area who are in need last week.
According to this police station’s social crime officer, Sgt Zikhona Sifuba, her office as well as the police station’s “helping hands team” and a member of the Wedela Community Policing Forum (CPF), Mrs Nozizwe Maphomolo, went out to farms in the area on Sunday 9 June.
“We wanted to put a smile on family’s faces by giving them warm winter clothes. The clothes were not only for the children as we gave some to the adults as well,” says Sifuba.
She added that the outreach lasted from 10:00 to 16:00. The do-gooders reached 12 families and about 230 residents.
“It was a joyful Sunday the kids danced and sang,” says Sifuba. She added that a landowner also thanked them. The group who reached out thanked the Wedela station commander, Captain Wayne Pestana, as well as other senior police members for their help and support.
