Potholes a huge problem in Fochville

Watch out for these dangerous hazards.

Residents must drive very carefully in the streets near Piet Viljoen Park.
While the park is in a terrible state, parts of the adjacent Hawer and Potchefstroom Streets are also full of deep potholes. They occur in areas where there have often been sewage leaks previously.

The part of Potchefstroom Street in front of the entrance to Piet Viljoen Park is in such a state that vehicles must drive on the opposite side of the road to miss the potholes.

If there is oncoming traffic, they must almost stop completely to avoid damaging their vehicles.

Over the past year, the Merafong City Local Municipality has maintained that it would repair the potholes as part of a programme but has never kept its promise.

The municipality’s marketing and communications manager, Mr Temba Fezani, never answered further questions about the matter on Monday  April 22.

The dangerous potholes can easily damage a vehicle.
