Hijackers strike at T-junction

Drivers of VW Polos must watch out.

The owners of Volkswagen Polos must again be on the lookout for hijackers.

Although no hijacking of such vehicles occurred recently, hijackers who prefer this make of vehicle again struck in our area on 9 February.

A resident was driving his Polo on the road from East Driefontein toward the T-junction at the P111 at approximately 07:00.

Suddenly a maroon bakkie and a white Polo started to box him in on the road. They forced him to stop and four armed Zulu-speaking men jumped from the two vehicles.

They ran up to the resident’s Polo and jumped in his car.

The thugs sitting at the back pulled him onto the back seat from behind. They pushed him onto the ground while one of their accomplices started to drive the car.

“We want your bank card and pin code,” they demanded.

He gave it to them and the thugs continued to drive with him the whole day and later dropped him off on the side of the road. The resident, who had no idea where he was, started walking and later managed to get a lift.

The good Samaritan who helped him dropped him off at the police station at Orlando in Soweto.
