CJ is again Merafong’s top school

Carleton Jones High School is the only public school to achieve a 100 per cent pass rate.

Aster Private Academy’s six matrics that wrote exams last year also achieved a 100 per cent pass rate. This was the first year that this school had a matric group.

Imfundo Secondary School from Kokosi is the second best public school in our area with a pass rate of 97.6 %.

Hoërskool Fochville came third with a pass rate of 94.3 per cent.

Several local schools also scored 80 per cent or higher.

Thuto Kitso Comprehensive School has a pass rate of 88.8 per cent, Letsatsing Secondary School a pass rate of 88.3 per cent, Fochville Secondary School a pass rate of 88.1 per cent, Hoërskool Carletonville a pass rate of 85.9 per cent, Hoërskool Wonderfontein a pass rate of 84.4 per cent and Tswasongu Secondary School 82.9 per cent.

Two local schools had pass rates of 70 per cent or higher.

Wedela Technical High School’s matrics had a pass rate of 77.4 per cent while those of Badirile Secondary School scored 73.9 per cent.

Relebogile Secondary School, whose matrics suffered disrupted schooling due to a sinkhole caving in at the school in March 2023, was the area’s worst performers with 62.8 per cent.
