Criminals attack family

A family from a smallholding at Rooipoort was robbed on their property at approximately 14:30 on Sunday, 30 July.

A live-in employee was doing the laundry and was about to exit when an unknown armed man stepped in at the door. He forced the employee to his bedroom and demanded the keys to the main house.
The thug and five accomplices marched him to the main house and started searching for valuables. They ransacked the house but were still not satisfied. “Where is the money?” they demanded from the employee.
When he could not answer them, they forced him back into his house and tied him up with his brother and mother.
The thugs assaulted them, kept them bound and fled in a Hyundai H100.
After some time, the employee got loose and flagged a neighbour driving by. The neighbour alerted the police, who notified the authorities in other towns to be on the lookout for the robbers in the Hyundai.
The vehicle was eventually spotted at Kocksoord in Randfontein, and the police arrested four of the six robbers.
