Three serious accidents in one week

A motorist was killed in one of the three serious accidents in the Carletonville area this week.

The worst incident occurred on the P111 between Carletonville and Westonaria on Saturday night, 13 May.
An eyewitness told police she was driving from Carletonville when the accident occurred near West Driefontein at approximately 23:11. A grey Toyota Camry rode into the back of her Ford and rolled.
Although paramedics rushed to the scene, one person in the Camry had died.
Another man was rushed to the hospital.
The Carletonville police are investigating a culpable homicide case following the incident.
They are also investigating two reckless and negligent driving cases following two more severe accidents in Carletonville on Thursday morning, 11 May.
The first happened at the corner of Kaolin and Ada Street at approximately 07:07.
A white bakkie and a minibus transporting learners from Carleton Jones High School, Aster Academy and Laerskool Danie Theron collided, allegedly after one or both drivers failed to stop.
The taxi overturned and ended on its right side on the road near the parking of the Hervormde Kerk.
The taxi driver was slightly injured, while ambulances from the Gauteng Emergency Medical Sevices (EMS) had to transport at least seven learners to the hospital with neck injuries, among others.
At about 07:30, emergency services had their hands full again when a Toyota Quantum minibus hit a motorcyclist at the corner of Kaolin and Klaserie Street near Laerskool Jongspan.
Paramedics from the Gauteng EMS stabilised the motorcycle rider, who had sustained a broken femur (thigh bone), among other injuries, and then transported him to the hospital.
“Their response time was rapid. I get emotional about the good work they do,” someone at the scene remarked.
Merafong City traffic officers controlled the traffic at both accident scenes.
