Sibanye-Stillwater launches big farming projects

The mining house Sibanye-Stillwater launched new farming projects near Carletonville this week.

Sibanye launched a farmer out-grower scheme and several nursery projects on the farm Wonderfontein 103 IQ, together with the Merafong City Local Municipality, on 15 March. The projects are part of the Driefontein Operations Social and Labour Plans. “The projects are regarded as the cornerstone of the West Rand Agri-Industrial Park Programme. Sibanye-Stillwater has appointed Dicla Training and Farming (Pty) Ltd as the implementing partner,” says the head of Sibanye’s community engagement and development department, Ms Molebogeng Motabogi-Moseki. Not only will the projects help and educate emerging farmers in the area, but they will also contribute toward food security. They will also help emerging farmers access big markets, create employment and transform ownership patterns and economic participation in the local agricultural industry.
