Widespread flooding in the Fochville area

Various bridges in the Fochville area are under water after heavy rain.

The bridge just outside Fochville on the R500 toward the Vereeniging road is flooded, which means that motorists have to use an alternative road to get towards the Vereeniging area.

Meanwhile motorists had to be rescued this morning when they were overcome by flood water on their way over the first bridge in Kokosi.

“The community and other road users are encouraged not to cross the Kokosi Extension 1 and Extension 2 bridged as well as R500.

“The municipality in partnership with other stakeholders are currently working closely together in ensuring that the safety of the community is addressed as there are houses that are damaged due to the heavy rainfalls

“The municipality therefore urges all other community members that are affected by the situation to contact their Ward Councillors for more assistance,” the municipal spokesperson says.
