Two brothers reunited with family after kidnapping for ransom

Another house robbery and kidnapping in our area this week.

Two siblings have been safely reunited with their family after being kidnapped for ransom from their residence last week Tuesday.

The brothers, aged 35 and 49, were abducted from their home in Khutsong Ext 5 by four armed men.

The family was preparing their evening meal when there was a knock at the door. A younger brother (23) who answered the door was met by four gunmen wearing balaclavas.

The thugs, who spoke Sesotho, immediately pointed firearms at him. They grabbed the brother and pulled him outside.

As his relatives saw what was happening, they ran to the door and quickly tried to close it.

Two shots were fired, grazing the stomach of the 23-year-old.

The kidnappers forced their way inside the home and took the keys of the family’s silver Toyota Hilux bakkie. They also grabbed the older brothers, forced them into the bakkie and drove off with them.

During the kidnapping ordeal, the kidnappers made contact with the family and demanded a ransom for their safe return.
The family, at first, called the police for help.

A manhunt was launched for the missing brothers and their kidnappers.

After some time the family, however, stopped communicating with authorities.

The brothers were later released unscathed.
