Damaged electrical pole in the Fochville area a safety hazard

The municipality seems not to be doing anything about the problem.

Residents of Kokosi who stay in the area of the new municipal library are concerned that a damaged pole might endanger their electricity supply.

The pole is situated on the open grounds next to the new library in Kokosi Ext 4, right across the street from house no. 3470.

The pole was damaged by a fire and has split to such an extent that one can see a strip of light right through the middle of it.

Various residents voiced their concern that the pole does not look safe. Instead, it seems like it might split further and topple over at some point, which might cause it to fall on pedestrians or vehicles.

An electrician also pointed out that this particular pole is at a junction and actually holds electrical cables from two areas in the air.

If it should topple over many residents will be left without electricity.

Although the Herald took the issue to the Merafong City Local Municipality, their Marketing and Communications Manager, Temba Fezani, did not respond.
