Carletonville detectives successfully rescue kidnapped resident and arrest six suspects
The suspects do not originally come from our area.
Excellent work by detectives from Carletonville led to the arrest of several kidnappers over the weekend.
The kidnappers struck in our area on Wednesday, September 18.
A resident (35) had visited his girlfriend in Khutsong Ext 5. His girlfriend later received a message that he had been kidnapped and that she had to hand over R45 000 for his release. The kidnappers also warned her not to report the incident to the police.
The girlfriend, however, went to report the incident at the police station the next morning. Captain Jacques Nagel along with other Carletonville detectives immediately started searching for the missing resident.
Not only did they find him unscathed, but the detectives also arrested six men in connection with the incident.
The suspects, who are South African nationals, originally hail from the East Rand but were all apprehended in the Carletonville area.
All six suspects were expected to appear in the Oberholzer Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
