Driver killed, innocent bystander injured in Carletonville Taxi Rank shooting

It is the third killing related to the local minibus-taxi industry in the Carletonville area in the past week.

A woman was injured during yet another shooting at the Carletonville Taxi rank yesterday (September 19).

As far as can be determined the incident took place at approximately 16:00. Unknown attackers walked up to a white Toyota Quantum minibus belonging to a member of CALLDTA (the Carletonville Local and Long-Distance Taxi Association).

The attackers opened fire on the taxi. They shot and killed the driver (44).

Their bullets also hit a bystander, a 40-year-old woman, who happened to be near the taxi.

She was rushed to hospital.

So far no-one has been arrested yet.
