A man died last week after he was allegedly assaulted by security officers.
The victim’s aunt told police that she received a call that her nephew was assaulted at approximately 12:30 on July 26.
The aunt called an ambulance and rushed to the scene in Barbet Street in East Driefontein. Upon arrival, she found her nephew (27) naked and unconscious with injuries all over his body.
She was told that her nephew and his friend had been apprehended by members of a security company after stealing doors from vacant houses. The security officers allegedly assaulted her nephew with a hammer and tazed him as well.
He later died in Carletonville Hospital due to his injuries. The police in Carletonville are now investigating a murder case.
