Woman raped at pedestrian bridge on Welverdiend road
This is one of several rapes that took place this week.
A rape took place near the pedestrian bridge over the road between Carletonville and Welverdiend this week.
The victim (22) and her friend were on their way to their house in Khutsong Extension 4 at approximately 02:30 on August 3. Two men approached them as they got to the pedestrian bridge. One of the men pulled out a knife and they demanded cash and cellphones, but the victim did not have either to give to them.
The thug with the knife, who was also masked, then took her to the side of the bridge and ordered her to undress. He then raped her without a condom. The rapist then accompanied the woman to her house, but ran away when he realised that she was not staying alone.
