Man murdered in Kokosi

He was loved and respected.

The body of a Greenspark man was found in Kokosi over the weekend.

According to a resident of Greenspark Patrick Mokwena, his former brother-in-law Phindile Kawana left home with a friend on July 3.

“He told his sister that they were going to a tavern in Kokosi. His sister tried to stop him, but he would not listen to her,” says Mokwena.

When Kawana (30) had not returned by the next morning his family started to make enquiries. They were informed around the afternoon of July 4 that Kawana’s body had been found on the bridge in Kokosi. He had been stabbed.

The family later heard that the friend with whom Kawana had gone to Kokosi, saw him for the last time when he left him at a tavern and went home. “Phindile grew up in front of me. He was a good man and did not cause trouble,” says Mokwena. Although the Herald tried to get more information from Fochville’s Station Commander Lieutenant-Colonel Kgomotso Netshitangani, none was forthcoming.
