Water leaking since before election

The municipality promised to attend after they were asked about the matter.

Water has been streaming down a busy road in Blybank for months, according to residents.

On Election Day, May 29, several voters, politicians and officials had to step over the water leak on the side of the road on their way to the voting station at the library. Water was streaming from the sidewalk next to house no. 2670 down the side of the road. By Monday, July 1, the problem still persisted.

“The water has been leaking here for months. The municipality doesn’t care enough to fix it,” a bystander remarked.

The leak is not only next to the main route to the Blybank library, but also on route to the town’s only municipal office.

The Herald enquired at the Merafong City Local Municipality about the issue.

“The leak was caused by a broken valve and will be attended to as soon as possible”, the municipality’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Mr Temba Fezani, answered.
