SPCA’s kennels looking better

Help from the community is making this a reality.

The Carletonville SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is busy with a huge campaign to upgrade its kennels.

According to one of the members of the SPCA’s governing body, Wanda Kramer, the organisation recently repainted and repaired its boarding kennels.

The work was done with a donation of R22 000 received from Laerskool Fochville recently.

“It is the first time that we are doing so much big work at one time. Dog owners can now let their pets board in our 10 bearding kennels, knowing that they are safe and in kennels that also look nice,” says Kramer.

She adds that the organisation has several volunteers who are currently hard at work renovating the other kennels as well. Several of the kennel blocks have already been painted in lovely bright colours and the volunteers and some committee members are repairing problems such as rusted through beams and wires.

“For some pets these are the last places where they will stay ad we want to make it as nice and comfortable as possible for them. Everything, however, changes once a pet is adopted and we really hope hat we can find new homes for all of them,” she says.

Kramer adds that the organisation has started to receive more help since they have started to share their financial documentation ad status.

Anyone who wants to assist, even if it is only with a corrugated iron sheet, is welcome and can ask to look at exactly how their donation has been utilised.
