A truck driver coming through our area had a harrowing experience this week. The incident took place on the night of Wednesday 19 June.
A driver of Bogdans Transport was driving his truck on the R501 when the vehicle developed mechanical problems near the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex at around 19:00.
The driver (33) was forced to stop. He called his employer and waited for help to arrive.
The next moment two unknown men came out of the veld and attacked him. They robbed him of his cellphone and wallet and shot him in the back. Luckily the driver was able to stop another motorist to get help and he was rushed to hospital.
The police in Carletonville are investigating cases of armed robbery and attempted murder following this incident.
