Three children die after bakkie rolls just outside Carletonville

A tragic accident occurred just outside Carletonville last night (Sunday 24 March).

Three boys died in an accident on the P111 road just outside Carletonville last night (24 March).

The children had taken part in a soccer tournament at Bekkersdal and were being transported back to Khutsong on the back of a Ford Ranger bakkie. There were allegedly 16 children on the back of the bakkie when the accident occurred.

For some reason the driver lost control on a straight section of the road after the turnoff to the Goldfields West Private Golf Club.

The deceased boys, who were members of the Young Lions team, were respectively 10, 11 and 12 years old.

The police in Carletonville are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the incident.

Our condolences to the children’s families and friends.
