Challenged relative still missing

The family of a disabled man from Carletonville is still waiting in anguish for his safe return.

According to Ms Carina Wiese, her uncle, Frikkie Bester, went missing last Thursday afternoon. He took his bicycle and rode off without his relatives noticing.
The family thinks he did this because he was upset over the death of his mother and did not know how to deal with the situation.
He is 56 years old and was wearing denim jeans, a white and blue striped shirt, a grey jacket and navy tackies when he disappeared.
Frikkie is intellectually challenged, vulnerable and requires medical treatment.
Wiese says she and other family members have been to various communities in the area to ask people to be on the lookout for her uncle. They also offer a reward for his return. A case has been opened with the police in Carletonville and the organisation Pink Ladies is also helping with the search.
Although he was initially spotted near Quick-Fit, Pick n Pay and the area of the old Goldfields Recreation Club, security cameras spotted him in the veld at Blyvoor on the day he disappeared.
“We are so worried about him. Everything is just so overwhelming; we are getting so many different reports from various people. Every time we hear from someone who thinks they have seen him, we race there, only to find that it is not Frikkie,” says Wiese.
Frikkie is short and walks with a limp. He has dark eyes and dark brown greying hair, is about 1.68 metres tall and weighs approximately 65 kg.
Although he took off with his bicycle, he is now believed to be on foot and barefoot.
Anyone who sees him must immediately contact the investigating officer, Sgt Lunga, at 083 733 2405 or the Pink Ladies at 072 214 7439 or 083 378 4882.
