“I am not here to get rich quickly, but to deliver a service to everyone.”

These are the words of Mr Jarco Swart, the new owner of A&D Auto Care at 39 Station Street in Carletonville.

Swart took over the business about two months ago and decided to leave the name as it is, because the “A”, for him, stands in memory of his late wife Antoinette, and the “D” for his son, Dimitri, who recently moved with him to our area. He came to Carletonville after previously staying in the Western Cape, because of the fond memories he had of the town from when he used to visit his relatives in the area as a child.

Although the town looks very different from the way he remembered it, he still believes here are excellent opportunities to grow a business such as his and it is much safer than where he stayed before.

Under Swart’s leadership A&D Auto Care repairs and services the engines, wiring, suspension, gear boxes and differentials (“diffs”) on vehicles. The business also does Lexus conversions.

They work on cars, old and new taxis, busses and even trucks.

“You name it, we do it,” he laughs.

Swart has plans to start buying up vehicles to use for second-hand spares and to put up a section just for spares. Currently he has two drivers who drive to pick up spares every day.  He also plans to start a carwash toward the end of July.

Swart (37) says he has loved vehicles since he was a boy as he grew up in a family who enjoyed car racing.

Since then, he has gained knowledge and experience by working at various large workshops.

Although Swart and his personnel can do a variety of work, he believes that no job is too small to demand his full attention.

“What I enjoy the most about my work is to see a happy client driving their vehicle out of my workshop,” he says.

He particularly invites taxi owners to try out his business, as he currently has a special on services for these vehicles.

A&D Auto Care is open from 07:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays.
