West Live Session on Youth Day

The West Live Session, where various artists from around Merafong will be displaying their talents, is finally happening at Mohlakeng in Randfontein on 16 June.

The event was postponed from 16 April due to the weather conditions. The lineup includes several artists representing Khutsong, like Vibration Taylor, King Tjwereza and Eloh Sub Sir. An up-and-coming record label, Moshani Records, is organising the event. Moshani has recently hosted recording sessions in the West Rand, where artists have collabo-rated on different songs to produce fresh, new music. The company has previously hosted West Live Sessions, where artists have showcased their talents. June’s session features some of the most promising artists from the West Rand. They have been working hard to prove they are the finest talents the area has to offer. Among them are Molly Super Man, Omnyama, Elyon Kin, Msoja Achu, Meth Udra, Santic, Ultar Ego, Illogic Technique, Toby, MaxNotSober, Fakaza, VlipStyleMovement, Power Of Thought, Moga Jazzkid, Lunar Don King.
Merafong DJs like Jay Papa SA from Khutsong and Cass Snyper from Wedela are well-respected hip-hop DJs who will also provide entertainment. Other DJs in the lineup are D-Tox and Slender DJ.
Well-known producers from the West Rand like Alexandra Sambo and Da Genie will also showcase their beats.
I Am Venom, one of the most popular emcees in the West Rand, will co-host the event. He is also an events organiser who has promoted hip-hop on platforms like the RAW Thursdays and the Love and Hip-Hop in Westonaria. Kaygism, another emcee, will be joining him.
The event organisers say the Music Live Sessions initiative is dedicated to promoting West Rand artists. The platform aims to form relationships and collaborations between artists and producers in the near future.
The event also gives studio artists a chance to perform in front of the people they grew up with.
The event, showcasing local brands, will also offer exciting stalls.
