An accident waiting to happen

Carletonville residents have to keep their eyes open because the tall grass and weeds on many sidewalks in the town obscure oncoming traffic.

Motorists who often drive in the section of Tugela Street between Onyx Drive and Kaolin Street have com-plained for some time that the grass on the side of the road is so long that they cannot see oncoming motorists.
This is particularly problematic for people driving toward Kaolin Street.
Turning into Garnet Street in Carletonville from Jade Street, from the direction of Kernite Street, there is also a large bush growing on the sidewalk. This bush is so big that it completely obscures the view of oncoming traffic.
The Herald took the matter to the Merafong City Local Municipality on Tuesday.
“The municipality’s Parks Section is currently working on a cleaning schedule. The bush will be removed soon,” the municipal spokesperson responded.
