Carletonville swimmers excel at big event

Swimmers from Carletonville recently excelled at a major provincial event.

Gauteng Aquatics hosted the OR Tambo Soncini Gauteng Provincial Games (Aquatics) on 6 No- vember. The competing teams were Team West Rand, Team Gauteng Schools, Team Sedibeng, Team Tshwane, Team Johannesburg and Team Ekurluleni.
Team West Rand consisted of three teams from Carletonville, Toekomsrus and Mohlakeng. The Carletonville swimmers held the town’s name high and proved with every stroke and flip that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Rory Frazer earned a gold medal for 100 m butterfly, Minke Rheeder achieved a gold medal for her 100 m butterfly and bronze for her 50 m, Nolize Rooskrans received a bronze medal for her 50 m backstroke and Cailyn Frazer got silver for her 100 m breaststroke.
Ms Hajiera Mabanga of Carletonville thanked the local swimming coaches, Tyrone Rooskrans and Gerrie Grove, for their effort to ensure their success.
“Their passion shines through the kids,” she says.
