Thirteen injured, two airlifted from accident at Kokosi

According to Werner Vermaak of ER24 thirteen people, which included several teenagers, sustained various injuries when they were thrown off the back of a bakkie when it overturned in Kokosi, Fochville yesterday afternoon (30 November). Paramedics from ER24 and local emergency services attended the scene At approximately 13:00. Upon their arrival they found the occupants of the vehicle scattered on the scene. Five adults were found with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Eight teenagers between the ages of 12 and 16 were also found on the scene. Two of them, a 15 and 16-year-old, sustained critical head injuries. Two emergency medical helicopters were called to the scene to airlift them to hospital. Three patients were transported by ambulance to Carletonville Provincial Hospital while two others used private transport to leave the scene. It is understood that they were making their way home after attending a funeral. The exact circumstances on how the incident occurred is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene.
